Ayanna a Pressley, is an active and strategic policymaker. Ayanna Pressley, the Massachusetts woman of color elected into the U.S. House of Representatives on the 6th of November, 2018, became the Commonwealth's first elected person of color. Ayanna believes the voices of those closest to pain are the ones that should be influencing policy. She was raised in Cincinnati and raised in Chicago Ayanna was the sole child of a single mother and a father who was in and out of the criminal legal system. Ayanna is the sole child from Sandra Pressley who was an activist for tenant rights and influenced her to believe in civic engagement.
